1M NTC Thermistor Accuracy Temperature Sensor 10K 1% 3950 Waterproof Probe

Thermistors are one of the most accurate types of temperature sensors. OMEGA thermistors have an accuracy of ±0.1°C or ±0.2°C depending on the particular temperature sensor model. However, these elements are fairly limited in their temperature range, working only over a nominal range of 0°C to 100°C.

Using a Thermistor to Measure Temperature.

The simplest way of doing this is to use the thermistor as part of a potential divider circuit as shown. A constant supply voltage is applied across the resistor and thermistor series circuit with the output voltage measured from across the thermistor.

Why is it difficult to measure temperature with a thermistor?

Technically, all resistors are thermistors – their resistance changes slightly with temperature.  But the change is usually very very small and difficult to measure. Thermistors are made so that the resistance changes drastically with temperature so that it can be 100 ohms or more of change per degree!
