Q & A

The RCWL-0516 and RCWL-9196 are microwave radar sensors commonly used for motion detection.

Because it uses microwaves, it can detect motion even in darkness or through specific non-metallic barriers — useful for motion detection when lighting is poor or through glass/plastic.

Features:
  • Uses RCWL-9196 chip
  • The antenna is a trace on the PCB
  • High-level signal output when detecting the motion with an active repeat trigger
  • High-speed NPN transistor Q1
  • 360 degrees, no blind angle detection, with up to 20mt detecting distance
  • Detection is not affected by the surroundings, and it has better performance than the IR sensor
  • Support night detecting function turn on /off, adjustable repeat trigger time and detecting distance by adding the SMD c
  • components to the corresponding pins

Specifications:
  • Working voltage: 4 – 28 VDC
  • Operating current: less than 3mA (max)
  • Output voltage: 3.3V
  • Output current: 100mA maximum
  • Operating frequency: 3.2GHz
  • Transmission power: 30mW (max.)
  • Detection range: less than 120 degrees taper angle within 20 meters
  • Trigger mode: repeat trigger
  • Delay time: 2 seconds
  • Active level: high (when motion is detected)
  • Board Size: 35.9 x 17.3mm
  • Output interface: 3V3 (3.3V power supply output), GND (ground), OUT (output signal), VIN (power in), CDS (detection can be turned off during the day by soldering an external photoresistor to ground)

Package Includes:
  • RCWL-0516-RCWL-9196 20m Doppler Radar Microwave Sensor
