XL4015 Module Power Converter DC 4~38V To 1.25-36V 5A

The buck converter is a very simple type of DC-DC converter that produces an output voltage that is less than its input.  The voltage drop across an inductor is proportional to changes in the electric current flowing through the device.

Description:

The XL4015 Module Power Converter DC 4~38V To 1.25-36V 5A is a DC to DC step-down (BUCK) power module that operates at a switching frequency of 180kHz. In such high frequency, it provides smaller sized filter components compared with low frequency switching regulators.

Features:

  • Regulator Type: Step Down
  • Input Voltage: +4~38 VDC
  • Output Voltage: +1.25 to 35 VDC
  • Output current: 0-5A, recommended for use in 4.5A.
  • Heatsink Supplied
  • Output power: 75W.
  • Short circuit protection: yes(limit current 8A).
  • Switching Frequency: 180 kHz.
  • Efficiency: Up to 96% ( when the output voltage is set high )
  • Load Regulation: +/- 0.5%
  • Voltage Regulation: +/- 2.5%
  • Temperature: -40 to +85 deg C
  • Over-temperature protection
  • Input reverse polarity protection: None (if required, the high current diode in series with the input).
  • Size 54 x 23 x 18mm

Package included: 1x XL4015 Module Power Converter DC 4~38V To 1.25-36V 5A

Product Applications

Where and why is the buck converter used?

The Buck Converter is used in SMPS circuits where the DC output voltage needs to be lower than the DC input voltage. The DC input can be derived from rectified AC or from any DC supply.

Can a buck converter increase voltage?

Two different topologies are called buck-boost converters. Both of them can produce a range of output voltages, ranging from much larger (in absolute magnitude) than the input voltage, down to almost zero.

Are buck converters efficient?

Buck converters can be highly efficient (often higher than 90%), making them useful for tasks such as converting a computer’s main (bulk) supply voltage (often 12 V) down to lower voltages needed by USB, DRAM and the CPU (5V, 3.3V or 1.8V, see PSU).
