Q & A
The MQ-7 Carbon Monoxide (CO) Sensor Module is a popular gas sensor for detecting carbon monoxide (CO) gas in various applications, such as home safety systems, air quality monitoring, and industrial safety.
The MQ-7 sensor operates on the principle of a metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) responding to gases such as carbon monoxide.
When CO gas contacts the sensor’s heated metal oxide surface, it alters the sensor material’s conductivity. This change is proportional to the concentration of CO in the air. The sensor’s resistance varies with CO concentration, and the output voltage changes accordingly.
